Graduate Housing Move-In And Move-Out

Preparing For Move In

ALL GRADUATE COMMUNITIES

  • Complete your pre-arrival check-in form in the Housing business portal, indicating your anticipated day of arrival.

  • Plan to take a COVID-19 test in the 5 days prior to arrival and show the negative test results at the time of move-in or show your COVID-19 vaccine record approved by the FDA.

  • Download the ResponsiBLUE app to your electronic device and plan to complete the health screening each morning that you are on campus.

  • If you plan to ship items to your new address, plan for them to arrive after you move in so that you are present to receive them.

  • Contact housing@umich.edu with move-in questions.

  • Follow the recommended CDC guidelines related to travel and covid-19 testing located on the Campus Maize and Blueprint.

LAWYERS CLUB GRADUATE RESIDENCES MOVING DAY TIPS

  • Check-in is at the Front Desk on the main floor at the State Street Entrance.

  • Show your ResponsiBLUElue Green check mark to the staff at the check-in desk.

  • Bring your negative COVID-19 test results from the past week or your COVID-19 vaccine card to show prior to checking in.

  • If you arrive after hours, remember to call the Department of Public Safety and Security at 734-763-1131 for access.

  • Curbside street parking is available at City of Ann Arbor parking meters along the front and the back of the building. The bagged meters are for your use.

  • Each student may have up to 2 persons accompany them inside the building at a time. More individuals may join in the excitement of move-in day, and can alternate entering the building to be mindful of social distancing.

  • Wear a face covering if you are medically able. If you arrive without face covering, we will provide one for you.

  • Maintain a personal distance of six feet or more from others. Follow the markers to indicate social distancing throughout the check-in process and elevator use.

  • Bring a photo ID and your Mcard, which you will use for access to the building. At the front desk, you will receive your room key, mailbox combination, and have access to a sanitized blue bin moving cart to assist with the process.

MUNGER GRADUATE RESIDENCES MOVING DAY TIPS

  • Check-in is at the Community Center office on the 8th floor.

  • Show your ResponsiBLUE Green check mark to the staff at the check-in desk.

  • Bring your negative COVID-19 test results from the past week or your COVID-19 vaccine card to show prior to checking in.

  • Follow the floor markings and signs to maintain a safe distance from all other persons.

  • If you arrive after hours, remember to call the Department of Public Safety and Security at 734-763-1131 for access.

NORTHWOOD I, II, IV & V MOVING DAY TIPS

  • Check in is at the Community Center at 1000 McIntyre Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.

  • Show your ResponsiBLUE Green check mark to the staff at the check-in desk.

  • Bring your negative COVID-19 test results from the past week or your COVID-19 vaccine card to show prior to checking in.

  • Follow the floor markings and signs to maintain a safe distance from all other persons.

MARTHA COOK AND HENDERSON HOUSE MOVING IN

These residential communities follow the undergraduate move-in procedures.

GRADUATE HOUSING MOVE-OUT

Because different graduate residences have different schedules, please check your contract to find out your move-out date. For more information about graduate contracts visit our Policies page.

The condition of the residence at move-out should be clean and as close to move-in condition with normal wear and tear as expected.  As a general rule, your residence should be left in a condition that you would feel comfortable moving into.

LAWYERS CLUB MOVE-OUT

  • Remove all personal belongings including items on shelves or in drawers.

  • Be sure to remove all trash.

  • Clean your room.

  • Before leaving the room, complete the Express Check out form and upload the requested photos.

  • Lock all doors and windows.

  • Remove items from your mailbox.

  • Return your room keys to the Lawyer’s Club desk.

  • A key drop box is available for your convenience during non-business hours.

MUNGER MOVE-OUT

  • Remove all personal belongings including items on shelves or in drawers.

  • Clean your room and shared spaces according to the cleaning guidelines.

  • Clean shared spaces in the kitchen, remove your items from cabinets and refrigerators and properly dispose of unwanted food items. Do not assume your roommates want your food or utensils.

  • Remove all trash and recycling and dispose of items in appropriate receptacles. Do not leave trash in the apartment, building hallways or the exterior of the building.

  • Before leaving the room, complete the Express Check out form and upload the requested photos.

  • Remove items from your mailbox.

  • Return your room keys to the community center on the 8th floor of Munger Graduate Residences on the last date of your housing contract. Be sure to complete the key return form in its entirety, including your forwarding address.

  • A key drop box is available at the Community Center for your convenience during non-business hours. 
    Further Move-out Related information

NORTHWOOD I, II, IV & V MOVE-OUT

  • Remove all personal belongings including items on shelves or in drawers.

  • Be sure to remove all trash.

  • Clean your apartment according to the cleaning guidelines.  If you are vacating a shared apartment, clean your bedroom and all common areas.

  • Before leaving the room, complete the Express Check out form and upload the requested photos.

  • Lock all doors and windows.

  • Remove items from your mailbox.

  • Return your room and mailbox keys to the Community Center at 1000 McIntyre Drive by 3:00 pm on the last date of your housing contract. Be sure to complete the key return form in its entirety, including your forwarding address.

  • If you are transferring to a different Northwood apartment, keys must be turned in by 9:00 am on the approved date. A key drop box is available at each Community Center entrance for your convenience during non-business hours. There will be a charge for a lock change if ALL keys are not returned.
