Transfer-Year Experience

The Transfer-Year Experience (TYE) is a theme community designed to address the transitional needs and concerns of incoming transfer residents. The programs provided to residents of this community offer assistance in navigating the U-M campus and help students connect with others.

Participants in the Transfer-Year Experience will live at Northwood III, an apartment complex dedicated to undergraduate residents and located on Michigan’s North Campus. Meal plans are optional for Transfer-Year Experience residents.

As a Northwood III resident and TYE member, you’ll be presented with many valuable life opportunities, including but not limited to:

  • Actively participate in Northwood III’s Community Council.
  • Run for a position on the Northwood III Community Council.
  • Cultivate a greater awareness of personal beliefs and values.
  • Explore academic and career goals.
  • Enhance your intercultural knowledge and competence.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of personal and civic responsibility.
  • Build intentional and lasting connections with others in the residential, campus, and local communities.

If you are interested in being part of this community, look for the "Transfer-Year Experience" label when searching for rooms on the Housing application for transfer students. A limited number of spaces are available.
