Northwood III is located on North Campus, just across the street from the North Campus Recreation Building. This mixed-gender community combines transfer and graduate students in separate buildings. Each apartment has one or two bedrooms, a shared bathroom, a kitchen and an area for living/dining or studying. Suitemates can determine how best to use the common living area. In addition to community apartment living, Northwood III is also home to the Transfer Year Experience community. Live-in resident advisors (RAs) are housed in every transfer building. They help students feel welcome, answer questions, provide support and encouragement, and help residents meet up and make friends. Student government is provided through both a hall council and a multicultural council, and offers many leadership opportunities to residents. With guidence ans support from staff, the organization works to create and nurture an atmosphere of community and camaraderie in this unique campus neighborhood.

  • Houses transfer and graduate students.
  • Vehicle parking permits and guest permits available from the Community Center.
  • Air conditioners are permitted in cases of medical need.
  • Full dining services available at nearby Bursley Hall. Also located in Bursley Hall is the Blue Apple Café, which is a student favorite—don't miss the pizza and smoothies!
  • Free and easy access to U-M buses as well as AATA buses. Learn more about transportation services.
  • The nearby Community Center offers easy access to information as well as serving as a social gathering spot.
  • Northwood III includes landscaped courtyards with seating and picnic tables. During the fall and spring, these courtyards will serve as natural gathering spaces for residents. The expansive green lawns are used for picnics, Frisbee tournaments and many other impromptu activities.
