In 2015, as an expression of our commitment to Diversity and Inclusion, U-M Housing developed “The Connector,” a concourse on central campus that connects the Union and West Quad and is a short walk to South Quad. The Connector provides a space where community members can engage with diverse ideas, perspectives, and stories of individuals and communities through participation in a variety of programs and activities.
The Connector has a large living room and community room for studying, a large programming space, a small dialogue room, and a kitchen. The primary community of The Connector is the residents of the central campus neighborhood. Within this multi-purpose space, residents will be able to study in a comfortable setting, use the warm and convenient passageway between buildings, and build relationships and community by holding and participating in programs. In addition, through partnerships and programing, other housing neighborhoods and campus partners are also welcome to use the space.
The Connector is intended to support the community development of the residential community. Therefore, use of The Connector’s common and reservable spaces must support the needs of the residential communities and the mission of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion. Events should be inclusive and open to housing residents. The spaces are not available for private events such as closed meetings or events that charge an entrance fee.
The reservable spaces within The Connector can be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. For the entire reservation policy and to make reservation for The Connector, please email email@example.com. Reservation requests must be made at least five full business days in advance of the date of the proposed event. Submitting a request does not guarantee that the event will be approved.
During the 2015-2016 school year (September through May), The Connector will be open to community members during the following hours:
Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.
Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.
