The rates for family and single graduate housing for 2009-2010 are as follows. Please note that rates include all utilities, local phone service, DSL connectivity, and in Northwood IV and V, washer/dryer.

For the most up to date information on Northwood Community Apartments, please continue to visit our website.  We are currently in negotiations for cable television service and will post the rates on the Web site once known.  All utilities, local phone service and High Speed DSL connectivity is included in the rental rate.

Rental Rate Information
Rent is due the last day of each month, for the following month. Payments should be made for the type of housing inhabited at the time payment is due. The rates include all utilities, local telephone service, DSL, and washer/dryer in Northwood IV and V.

Long distance telephone service is optional and provided through the University. Instrument must be provided by resident.

The University reserves the right to revise rates with a 30-day notice to the resident.

Central air conditioning is standard in some apartments. Residents may provide their own room air conditioning unit and will be assessed a fee based on the size of the unit for additional use of electricity. After submitting the Air Conditioning Request Form, charges will be assessed and must be paid at the Community Center on North Campus.

The basic package of cable television service is automatically provided at an additional monthly cost. This service may be cancelled in writing with 3 weeks prior notice, using the appropriate online Cable cancellation form.

Checks should be written payable to the University of Michigan and include the resident’s UMID number. Checks may be mailed to Department #77272, Student Financial Operations, University of Michigan, PO Box 77000, Detroit, Michigan,48277-0272. Payments may also be made personally at the Teller Services, 2226 Student Activities Building.

Penalties will be charged on accounts which are not paid in full by the due date. The current penalty is $30.00 per month.

University Housing is a self-sustaining auxiliary unit of the University and is expected to generate sufficient revenue to meet both operational and capital improvement costs. University Housing makes every effort to operate its facilities in a cost-effective manner to keep rates as reasonable as possible.
