Northwood Community Center on McIntyre and TV Lounge at 1588 Cram Place - Space Use Policy and Application

The Multipurpose Room (MPR) at the Northwood Community Center, located at 1000 McIntyre and the TV Lounge at 1588 Cram Place is reservable to Northwood residents in support of community development.

Space Use Policy and Guidelines

Please read the reservation policies below before submitting a reservation request.

Reservation requests must be made at least five full business days in advance of the date of the proposed event. Submitting a request does not guarantee that the event will be approved. Northwood residents are not allowed to reserve event space on behalf of non-residents. Non residents my submit a request on their own.

The person reserving a space is assumed to be the host of the event and is expected to be on site during the length of the event. The Host will be identified in the application form. Residents of the community must be able to verify status as a Northwood resident.

Regularly scheduled events (e.g., weekly meetings) are not permitted in order that the space is available to meet the needs of all residents in the Northwood community.

Mass, public invitations to events are not permitted.

Financial transactions are prohibited. Only charitable, item donations (coats, toys, non-perishable food, etc.) may be collected as a condition of entry to an event.

The maximum capacity of the Multipurpose Room is 105 people and is dependant on configuration and the amount of furniture used. Room capacity for the TV Lounge at 1588 Cram Place is 15.


Parking at the Community Center on McIntyre during events is restricted to the spaces along McIntyre Dr. or the U-M Orange lot at Hubbard and McIntyre after 5:00pm. Visitors need to obtain a temporary parking permit for the event or park in one of the visitor spots in each parking lot. Temporary parking permits can be purchased at the Community Center during Northwood Community Center hours.

Food & drink

All Food and Beverage must be supplied by Michigan Dining. Northwood residents may be permitted additional food and beverage sources in consultation with Northwood Professional Leadership Staff. 

Alcohol is strictly prohibited and may not be brought into the Community Center. In the event that alcohol is brought into the building, the Department of Public Safety may be contacted.

Barbecuing is not allowed on the deck at any time. All open flames are prohibited in the building with the exception of birthday cake candles.


There are no technology consultants available to assist in connecting to the projector and/or speakers; thus it is the responsibility of the reserving party to familiarize themselves with the available technology in the space and ensure that any planned use of technology is tested prior to the event.

Event Setup and Cleanup

All MPR users will prepare their own setup and replace the tables and chairs in the closets on each side. Users for the MPR and the TV Lounge at 1588 Cram Place must wipe the tables and chairs and sweep the floor as needed (using equipment provided). All trash and recyclables must be taken to the dumpsters inside the loading dock garage.

It is expected that the room will be left clean immediatly after the event and that the furniture will be returned to the original arrangement.  Charges could be assessed in the case of damages, loss of University property, if tables and chairs need to be moved, or if excessive cleaning is needed.


University Housing reserves the right to bar groups that practice or promote harassment on the basis of race, sex, color, sexual orientation, national origin or ancestry, religion, age, marital status, gender identity, gender expression, disability or veteran status.
